Hey guys,

When I bought my car, it came with a brand spanking new, but incomplete engine. What I mean by incomplete is that the engine itself was bolted in, but none of the electricals and very few of the vacuum hoses were hooked up..

I know that the NA engine has a vacuum advance on the distributor but, does the turbo engine have one? If it does, I need to find one because my engine is missing it

Putting the year of your car in your signature (under Profile) will get you more accurate responses.

My 1980 has a vacuum unit with advance (from throttle plate) and retard (from manifold vacuum. . .actually tapped from brake booster line).

If your vacuum sticker is missing I can shoot you a photo of mine.

Whoops! I spaced that.. Fixed it now though!

According to the Haynes manual (albeit, the last 8 pages of it), my particular engine appears to have a 'Direct Ignition Timing Control' system which means it uses a hall sensor on the flywheel instead of a vacuum advance.

'81-up 931s with DITC have a vac line to the DITC box that provides vac/boost level info for processing. DITC takes that, and the crank sensor signal, and intake air temp, then figures out how much spark advance or retard...

Not seeing the Vac line to DITC here, but as I recall it originates somewhere near "H" (the CSV) -
