Anyone know if a learning universal remote control could learn the IR signal from a infrared controlled toy ie could I use the IR learning remote plus Internals from an IR controlled helicopter to have IR control over various car functions ( using relays)?? _________________ 1979 NA

Sure, you could.
But why? What have you got in mind?
Remember IR is just line of sight between transmitter and receiver. Depends on your intended usage of course but for short range in a auto related environment, RF is more often preferred, and omni-directional. Such as remote locking and garage door controllers.
Check out this site for various remote modules, may be something suitable for you ready made, and likely cheaper than screwing around with toys. Their search is not very friendly and shipping takes a few weeks too. Or search on ebay.

when I was a youngster, I had a learning all-4-1 remote which I used to pick up the code for the laser tag game all the local kids played. it worked nicely as I could hide in the bushes and shoot 3 or 4 people at once.
But if I could do that, you most likely can get an rc helicopter to work with it.... although I thought they had analog controls... _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |
