I sent Protomotive an email asking them if they would be willing to make C GT intercoolers. They said they would be more willing to. Before I can get a price estimate, they want to know how many would be willing to purchase one. Obviously, the more interested, the less costly.

If you don't know Protomotive, here is their email:

You're going to run into a chicken and egg ordeal..

The price is what is going to dictate how many they sell.

If they can build a replica(maybe improve upon it?) and sell it "bolt-on" for a reasonable( under $700) I think they could pretty sell a few.

I doubt there would be any chance of getting money up front or doing a group buy or anything..

PS- I see you're from Fairchild, I'm just up the road in Eau Claire!

I'll ask them about the price, see what they say.

I don't think that replicating the CGT intercooler is a good idea. It's inefficient and will be pricey. In that price you can install a front-mount one and get much more fun.

Well, it's not looking good for this investment. According to Protomotive, it would be considerably expensive, with all of the castings and such involved. For ten, estimate is $1995 each.

Thicker core, bigger scoop. Two grand, if PERFECT and 100 percent bolt in, is not terrible, IMO.

Agree, $2000 was expected. Could be a nice setup with a larger core.

The 911 turbo got topmount as well, behind the cabin without scoop...

2000 dollars for a method of installing a front mounted 951 intercooler! A kit for example: intercooler, fiberglass 924 replica front-end with holes for tubing. The AIR GTS front end I have has plenty of room for one of these. But some might want to retain the original look.

Yeah, if anyone pays $2000 for a non-authentic cgt top mount... they are nuts..

For $2000 i could have a custom manifold and front mount built.. easily..

Last original one on ebay.de went for €550. Anymore than that and a FMIC is more affordable and better performing.

New talks: how about a front mount intercooler roughly the size of the AC condesor?

FMIC would be sweet. Doesn't have to be huge. The issue you will run into is routing the intercooler tubes to and from the intercooler..

How so? Seems to have been done already with 951 IC's or any off the shelf one which fits the space.

Will be slotting in an off the shelf modern IC into mine as soon as the bodywork is finished
