So I've been looking for a summer car and like everyone here, I wanted a 924. But it had to be turbocharged. I wanted, say, 200-odd-horsepower. I thought a water-cooled turbocharger would be good. With a front-mounted intercooler. And EFI, too. And while I'm at it, bigger brakes and wheels and tyres to deal with the performance. Better suspension, too. And I figured, why can't I have a nice interior, something with no dash cracks and switchgear that works? And climate-control air-conditioning... and electric seats? Of course, so that I could hang with the cool kiddies, it couldn't look like a 924. More like a pseudo-924 Carrera GT, big, flared wheel arches and the like. Kinda like a 944.

You can see where this is heading, can't you?

My new toy...

The Apple Falls Not Far From The Tree

A tad bit worried what will become of your Toofah:
Did she have a good home all these years?
How does it feel to turn the page?
What medication are you on?

Nice looking ride there, Khal. Congrats! I do like pseudo-924 Carrera GT models!

Don't be a stranger, now. Please post back and tell us 924 nerds what it's like to hang with the cool kids. We want to live vicariously through you!

Cheers, Brian

Gorgeous, Khal! And I love the color - same as my 84 944. Much nicer than Chrenan's Jap car (ducks and waits ).

Wise-ass, eh? S'OK, we'll still let you park that in our driveway this summer.

P.S. CAREFULLY inspect your fuel feed, return, and "jumper" lines. . .replace if cracks are visible.

One correction, replace even if cracks aren't visable...

Fear not, she's safe and warm.

Even though it looks similar, the car is vastly different. But when you're behind the wheel, well, you know where it came from.

I believe the doctor said it was one part turbocharger, one part intercooler and three parts FUN!

You got it in one, Dolomite Grey. I thought it was the same colour as my 924 Turbo but the paint codes are different...

Never! I still have a 924.

Yeah, big fan of that colour, too. The interior colour on the other hand, well...

As it happens, I drove to work today, just to see how long it'd take! It's about 15 minutes quicker than catching the train and ferry (strictly speaking, it's been a couple of years since I've had to take the bus to work).

But on the train/ferry I get to kick back and read a book and/or listen to some podcasts, while being chauffeured to work. Plus I get a little exercise riding my bike to the station and back. On the other hand, in the car in downtown Vancouver traffic, I'm creeping along at about no miles per hour, playing see-saw on the clutch for about a half an hour...

No thanks, I'll stick to the train/ferry for work
