What would you rather have if they cost the exact same amount? _________________ Porsche 924 1977 N/A

Depends, are they adjustable?
For the street, Bilsteins are very nice, but most aren't adjustable and work better with stock or slightly more stiff lowering springs.
Koni's are adjustable and rebuildable to work with nearly any spring rate you'd like. Out of the box, they work pretty well on the street, but can feel a little choppy sometimes. _________________ Stefan

The Bilsteins. They're monotubes, work much better than the Konis, which are twin-tube.
Unless you're talking for racing, but I'm guessing you aren't. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Thanks for the respones. The koni's are the adjustable ones, they are on sale for about the same price as the bilsteins. $145 a piece. Im not planning on racing yet but if the koni's give me the option to race in the future it would be nice to be set up. _________________ Porsche 924 1977 N/A

Bilsteins! I've raced with both on my race cars. Just spent three years dicking with the double adjustable Konis on my 911. Finally gave up and called Bilstein. Told them my spring rates and bolted on what they sent. Instantly a second faster than my best times.
Ran them on my BMW and Benz race cars with zero problems also. If you think you are a great shock tuner, go with the Konis. I'd rather drive than ponder whether the last bump was a compression or rebound issue and what to do next.

Buy for what you're doing now.
The Bilstein HDs apparently are limited in how much more spring they can handle above stock; OTOH, Konis don't last all that long.
We run Bilsteins in the racecars, but they're hardly off-the-shelf units - they're custom-built and valved, and much more expensive.
My DSR has Konis in the back, but they're nothing like the street 924 Konis, other than the name; again, they're hand-built custom motorsport units. _________________ Vaughan Scott

So the bilsteins are sounding like the way to go for spirited street driving. _________________ Porsche 924 1977 N/A

Affirmative, the rear axle adjustable Konis did not last very long before bursting the oil out Also yellow Koni front shocks are very hard even in their softest setting, like there is no shock absorption at all. Maybe these were just cheap replicas made in China? I will definitely try some other brand in the future.
edit: rear shocks were also "Koni yellow" _________________ Mikko

When I bought my bilsteins it was an easy decision.
Konis or bilstiens and a 19mm rear sway bar.
A little tougher when the Konis are on sale _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK

The previous owner had just bought a new set of Bilsteins for the rear, so I plan to match them up with a new set for the front. Driving home on snow-covered roads was interesting with the fronts completely shot! _________________ 1987 924S |
