|
|
I am really confused searching through all of these threads and websites, and I can't seem to find a clutch kit that would suit my needs. I am rebuilding my engine with VW flat tops, and I will probably implement a boost controller. I do not see myself going THAT far beyond stock power.
I would prefer to spend the least amount of money possible on a clutch kit, but I do want one that people know is quality.
Could I get any links of a product or website where you guys usually order clutches? I am at a loss as to which one to buy. It seems like no websites agree on which clutches fit the 1980 924 Turbo. _________________ 1980 931 |

On a bone stock S1 931, you need (spring-damped) clutch plate 931.116.011.04 and pressure plate 931.116.001.02
If you replace the S1 flywheel with a US-spec S2 flywheel, you can upgrade to the 911 pressure plate 915.116.001.27, which provides ~2x the clamping force of the 931 pressure plate. There is another version of the 911 pressure plate that has an alu housing to reduce weight...it is part number 915.116.001.16, but they are NLA from Porsche. I got lucky and found a NOS unit 3 years ago that I'm currently planning to put into the UWB project.
I'm not sure if you can use the 915.* pressure plate on the S1 flywheel. My 941 was originally a S1 car, but the motor that's in it is mostly S2 stuff so it has the S2 flywheel. I'm not planning to use any of the S1 flywheels I have because they're heavier than the S2 flywheels.
SPEC has some nice-looking clutch packages but they're not cheap. If you want to investigate their stuff as an alternative, you would need whatever setup they say is compatible with the M31.01/02 engine, which is presumably what you have. Best to check the engine code stamped onto the block to verify for certain. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
