Sooo...I was surfin' eBay and I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120690373263&viewitem=

After I read the description I had no idea what condition this car is in. Also, what is it exactly? Does it have an intercooler? Does he have any actual photos of the car? I send him an email (nothing rude or insulting) and I get this:

"If you got lost mybe you are disconnected and if I had pictures I would show them. The car is at Dans auto for the world to see. What leads you to believe it has an intercooler. If you are hearing voices and you are feeling disconnected and you think people are lying to you. Then go see a doctor! It is not only just a 931 it is also just a Porsche. Were your eyes crossing when you posed your questions?"

WTF! Obviously he doesn't want to sell the car if this is how he responds to everyone's questions!

This is a great idea.

I would redirect you all to the other thread about this car but someone else already did. Really I think this guy has seen Barret Jackson too many times so he thinks an old car is automatically worth a ton. Not to mention he doesnt seem to have any concept of the english language at all making his description terrible.

I went back and forth with this guy last week and it's very difficult to get a decent answer out of him. He made a ton of revisions to his ad and price which started out at $7K, then 5K, then $2500.00...didn't get a bid.

I'd like to see pics also, but he seems to be afraid to face Dan and take some, and when I phoned Dan he wasn't too keen about describing it, basically said it was a piece of s**t Porsche that hasn't run in 10 years. Of course he may be talking it down to get a lien on it and keep it for himself...although it really didn't sound like it.

Good luck getting info or pics!

Talked to him again to see if he would post pics:
Apparently he's had this thing for 23 years. By the sounds of it, he owes Dan's Auto Body money for the car (something like $2000? $4700+$2000? IDK...). As TJC said, he doesn't seem to want to go over to Dan's Auto Body.

He also seems to think the only ones interested in this car are doctors and lawyers!

Another cryptic response to my question

Me: Can you give me the chassis number please. Porsche made a few 924 prototypes in 1978/79 for European racing/rallying. By 1981 they had already prototyped the Carrera GT, GTS and GTR and the turbo was winding down production as the 944 was on its way.

What makes you believe this is a prototype car? Need pics!

Timdog931; reference the excellence issue with the silver 968 cabriolet on the cover they were celebrating this car and in this issue they disclosed information about a group of cars sent to the US for racing that were know as 931 the first use of this designation it was difficult to get them into the US many steps were taken one of witch may have been to title them as 924 turbo now if you ran porsche and made an executive decision to designate a car 931 but could not because of US regs would you change your mind completley and hand the designation out in another fashion or just circulate it as a myth unoficialy given to production models to the US I love logic but this car defies all but that explanation i you enjoy upsetting traditional thinking this car is for you its almost better than all porsches being water cooled now

There is this thing that was invented many years ago. It is called a period. You use it when you end a sentence and begin a new one. < See, it's right there. < Oh, look, another one.

Just read the questions at the bottom of his ebay listing, here's the best part.

"and if I had pictures I would show them. The car is at Dans auto for the world to see."

The world does not live within an hours drive of Dans auto. The world would like to see pics.

Let's say we start messing with him, I'll see if I can get the reserve price out of him and we'll start bidding it up.

Good gawd.....

This is right in there with fake Chanel handbags.

....money owed for stuff done.... or not...

... and...

Does it, or doesn't it, need a clutch job..... besides whoknowswhatelse?

I honestly tried to read through the "write up" on this poor car ....but I actually got so lost.
I also lost interest in even messing with the "seller" for more info .
I feel more like reporting the listing.

Any car needs pictures to document it.
The seller has to "splain" better what the (auction) is actually for.

931's are rare, but they are REAL Porsches. and Porsche documents EVERYTHING.

...and folks wonder why there are so few 931's out there.....
