|
|
Hello guys,
I am starting the built of a 924 Carrera GT (S) replica
The car will be used for "fast road" local trackdays use.
The objective is to build the body to 924 GTS look by installing the GTS front bumper and lexan lights as well as all the other CGT bits (front wings, scoop, rear arch extensions rear CGT bumper)
My 924 has a 2,5 8v engine, gbox suspension etc at the moment
The car has stripped interior, and a bolted rollcage with 2 race seats (well, only one Cobra monaco installed at the moment).
Suspension is Koni yellows all around with thin 944 antiroll / sway bars.
I have a complete 944S2 as a donor car and my plans are to install ALL the mechanics (engine, loom, gbox, suspension, hubs brakes etc)
Here is a picture of the car as is right now :
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I am looking for recommendation for a good source of high quality fg bodyparts for the Carrera conversion. I am interested for the best fit and lighter parts available. Any ideas ? |

Car was bought as RHD, and I switched steering wheel and driving position...
I still have not taken the handbrake on the Left side, so the codriver has a chance to add some action on the ride experience |

Nice. There is a build thread over at Pelican where this guy Jim did the same thing. . .might be worth reviewing. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I remember this one from about a year-and-a-half ago.
So did you decide to begin with a 924S instead?
You did a RHD to LHD conversion?! Man, some people just have to do everything the hard way, eh? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Good memory !!!
I still have the donor 951 as well as the engineless 931.
I bought a RHD 924S a year ago from the UK.
The car had been used for fun on mountain roads and trackdays since.
I really enjoyed it and it has been very reliable and competitive at time trials. This led me to the decision to look for an upgrade. I decided to go the non turbo way for the use that it is intended. I love the linear power delivery of the 3,0 ltre engine which makes the car a great all around package.
I bought last week a complete and drivable 944 S2 as a donor car.
My plans and intentions are to install all the drivetrain onthe 924.
I decided to convert the 924 to LHD because I really like the condition of the car. It was too clean to cut and canibalise.
My plans are on convertiing the body to Carrera GTS. At the moment I will start with the engine/ gearbox, all electrics, A-arms and brakes
Lets see how it goes |
