I'm probably really about to show my lack of knowledge about my engine bay and what goes on in there right now, but i've never claimed otherwise, so here goes.

Trying to determine where a noise was coming from after about 1.5 hour drive this evening.
Looking down into the engine bay I notice the "thing" underneath the alternator that's on the same belt appears to be rotating very very slowly and not smoothly. I notice because it appears to have a "cap" or something on the end with rivets or bolts or something so I see them rotating.
Shut engine off, start up about 5-10 min later. Doesn't "appear" to be rotating at all, at least the "cap" part.
Turn on AC and it's rotating again but at such a fast speed can't make out the "cap".
I don't even know what this is, lol, but it doesn't seem normal to me, or is it?? Can anyone please educate me a little? Thanks!

That is the A/C compressor.

What you are seeing is the normal function of the clutch hub.

Hehe, worrying for nothing. Thanks edredas!

Well, on the same topic, "Is this normal??"... When I press my power window switches, for the duration I hold them down my Temp Gauge spikes up about 1/8, any ideas there, normal?

Your power window switches work? j/k

Could be a bad connection, my temp gauge would do weird things before I took it out and cleaned the contacts.
