Yes, awesome
The only disappointing thing about it is the same thing that's disappointing about the Un Zud and Newfie Targa's... no bloody TV coverage! Oh, sure, they put together a one-hour special some months after the event. But mate, what I wouldn't give to be able to watch it online... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

What a blast that would be to do. Doubt they do anything like that over here, too many laws and junk.
I wonder if any of it will be on Speed channel? Take lots of pics when you go. That website is cool too. _________________ I got nothin'

On my bucket list for sure.
Google:
Open Road Racing
Targa Newfoundland
Hillclimbing (Pike's Peak being one of the more well known)
ChumpCar
24 Hours of Lemons
all of which could wet your whistle for racing adventures at various price points _________________ Stefan

The NZ ones have a couple of 10 minutes news articles go up each day on their site (like this one featuring my beautiful wife and her little pink car www.vimeo.com/20977777) - perhaps Targa Tasmania could look at doing the same? _________________ Andrew

No such thing as only doing it once - once you've done one and got the bug there's no going back _________________ Andrew

They run the Carrera Panamericana down in Mexico each October also, there is a website, but I think cars have to be pre 1970 or so. I found a 1954, 356 Porsche down in Oaxaca last winter and took a couple of pictures. Last year it went from Tuxtla Guiterriz to Zacatecas, takes about a week. _________________ Mike

Here's something of interest to keep an eye on through the event -
#611 Walter Rohrl 1981 Porsche San Remo 911 SC
Rohrl, on the other hand, was more intent on getting used to a car he hasn’t driven in anger since 1981.
“It was a nice experience,” he admitted.
“It’s the first time I’ve been back on a special stage in this car and it just seems like 30 years ago. I feel like I’ve jumped back in time 30 years, like a young guy.
“The car is the same, it’s soft, it’s rolling quite a lot and not so much power, but I think that’s what it was like 30 years ago.
“For me the biggest thing I don’t know is tyres, because I have no experience of racing where I have to save my tyres. It will be a challenge for me to see how fast I can go and save my tyres.” _________________ Andrew

Was so annoyed today, they were only ~10 mins away and i couldn't go see them
planned with a mate to go up and watch them on the cethana stage on saturday which should be awesome.
There were a couple of 924's in last year, but none this year. |
