Need Help Please
Recently purchased my first project car, 1982 924 non turbo.
Can't get it to fire up, I think the wires are mixed up or the distributor is not in sync with the cam shaft.
Does any have a diagram or a picture showing rotor position with engine at 0 (TDC) and cam shaft timing indicator lined up?
Also need to know what spark plug wire goes where from the distributor cap to the spark plugs.
Thanks _________________ BFG

I've done some work in your aera! Technically it does matter where the rotor button is as long as the rotor is pointing at the number one plug when the cylinder is at TDC, I believe the timing is 10 degrees before TDC. If you get it close it'll run. There is a timing mark on the back of the cam sprocket you can use this to get a basic timing to get it running. I don't know the firing order of the top of my head I believe its on the valve cover though. _________________ 81 924 N/A

Just line up the motor on top dead center and check the cam pointer. If you don't see the dot on the cam pulley turn the engine 1 full turn.
If you still don't see the dot, your timing belt has slipped. Assuming you see the dot:
Then pop the distributor cap and make sure the rotor is pointing at the post that's connected to the wire that runs to #1 (front most plug). _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

If you want to do it the way the factory manual says, there is a line scribed on the top of the distributor mounting surface that the cap sits on that the rotor should point to for #1. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Thanks for your advice, I've got the wiring order right now. Did as you suggested and checked for spark. Not getting spark. Checked ignition coil it has 0.9 ohms resistance across 1 and 15 terminals. I feel like I'm getting close, how do you check to make sure the distributor is doing it's job? What else should I check or replace? _________________ BFG
