On the 1982 924 NA, where is the expansion valve and is it easy to replace? _________________ 1982 Porsche N/A |

For the AC? It's attached to the evaporator inside the AC plenum in the cabin. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Is it behind the glove box and easily accessible? Am making plans in getting the A/C working again before I get the plates. Humid 102 degree weather is highly encouraging this. Already have the vacuum pump, gauges. Just need to replace the expansion valve. Am debating in freeze 12 or 134 as it has already been retrofitted at some point in the past. _________________ 1982 Porsche N/A |

The plenum is under and behind the glove box. There should be a kick panel that you can remove to get access to the plenum. From there, it's fairly self-explanatory how to remove the plenum once you've disconnected the two main refrigerant lines. The expansion valve attaches directly to the evaporator. It's not hard, but just a little tedious.
I'm no expert on AC systems, but whatever you do, you need to make sure to evacuate ALL of the old oil and replace ALL of the seals. I think there are some good writeups on either Pelican or Clark's Garage... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thanks. I intend to completely evacuate the system, before the new valve is installed and vacuum the system before new freon is added. _________________ 1982 Porsche N/A |
