Hi guys, it seems that I have chosen a some what nice look for the webbered porsche, maybe we can call it the 933 FR Porsche.
The overall look will look like this-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/WEBBERED%20PORSCHE/?action=view¤t=scan0001.jpg
The car will be lowered, haveing a front low spoiler with lip-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/WEBBERED%20PORSCHE/?action=view¤t=SP_A0180.jpg
Lip is still to be designed.
,
a rear valance )no pic yet,
a rear wing over the spoiler-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/WEBBERED%20PORSCHE/?action=view¤t=SP_A0182.jpg
side low skirts- no pic yet
5spoke wheels preferably black (these are silver)-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=SP_A0043.jpg
I also like the orange colour paint theme which i Think looks great.
I also intend to include either an OMP black leather race seat (pic not taken yet) or this red/black race seat-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=SP_A0046.jpg
I am at the moment designing a race look interior which will most probably have an aluminium style look, open for any ideas.
The engine will be based on the original 933 webbered engine or close as I can get anyway.
We have already mocked up the webbers yet have another cylinder head which we are playing with.
I have shown the design of the car to some friends who think its good, would appreciate any feedback on the look though from fellow members, any add ons I might include.
Obviously we are not talking about running gear, breaks etc yet since these are still being looked for or sourced locally.
I also intend to alter the dash board a bit especially the gauges on the console and some other stuff which will give the car a racy interior hopefully.

Orange can look great on these cars, I like the low front lip as well.
I'm not a fan of the wheels as they are too complicated (bits of carbon fibre) and a bit "Japanese". The seats are also a bit loud for me. _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

Thanks, wheels are lightweight though, i thought they might look good in black , maybe spray paint them.
I can opt for a leather black OMP race seat, will try to take a pic this week. Thought the red and black would look good on orange.
any more comments>

The wing is terrible, doesn't fit the car at all! You should go with a 968 style it would look better _________________ 81 924 N/A

I have had another comment on the rear wing on another topic post too. It seems that rear wings dont go with Porsche 924. Although when mocked up it looks good.
I have actually considered the 4 piece 968 spoiler available from porscheshop of uk, though I have seen this -
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/WEBBERED%20PORSCHE/?action=view¤t=01620Rear20Spoiler.jpg
which looks and has a racy image,
I have also seen these-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=944ts1pc.jpg
and this-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=01620Front20Splitter.jpg
as a front spoiler lip idea.
Obviously one has to keep in mind that these mods might not go on a street going car and therefore it has to be taken into consideration that these mods shall have some sort of fuctionality besides looks since I have in mind to further improove engine power in the future.
Thanks for your comments will definetly be considered. as one might note I am trying to include mods on the car which are seen on other 924 models although some might look drastic and exagerated. well I was encouraged to experiment so here I am doing it.

That is probably one of the best looking rear spoilers for the Porsche 924/944/968.
I had seen something similar here-
http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_924_body_styling.html
These are from porscheshop.uk. they have a bridge type which seems ,has to be attached to the existing spoiler and the 4 piece 968 style spoiler, although the one you show is adjustable the one from porscheshop isnt if im seeing right. Both styles are nice. The bridge spoiler will surely be fuctionable if attached to the existing spoiler IMO.
Yes that is a nice spoiler, but is it suitable for a track car or more suitable for a raod going car. I like it though too, price is within reach ,guess if i go for the 968 type spoiler I might find a Honda owner here and sell him the wing
Thanks

Phooey, I think the right wing could look awesome. . .I've seen some very sharp looking ones on 944 race cars. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Hi Rasta, well I think they do too but it seems Iv chosen the wrong one??? Although when mocked up I liked it, some seem to see it as 'foreign' to the Porsche look.
Im sure a few changes will happen from the original sketch just to accomodate the look , I will be happy if its close though.

I don't mind the wing either. I've seen lots of '44s & '68s with that style wing.
I'm not sold on the Strosek-style vents.
RE: the wheels, you really should convert to five lug. I know you're in Malta and parts are hard to get or expensive to ship there. But still. Drum brakes on a car that looks like that will just be strange. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I think what you are trying to 'design' already exists. Its called a 944 race car!!

Im not trying to design anything actually just made a sketch/mock up. Your 944 race car looks nothing like the car im trying to put togther.
Mine is narrow bodied to start with , rear wing is placed differently (if i choose the wing) no rear valance on the 944, the rear bumber is not smoothed into the rear panel, no side skirts.
Mine will have smoothed front bumber with front upper panel and front spoiler, deleted flip up head lamps.
Most important of all mine is an original narrow bodied 924 , not a car based on the 924.If anything existed it was the 924 before the 944, sorry mate. People here encouraged me to experiment with ideas so i chose to start with the looks first, maybe Im trying something different from the carrera or d prod style,, can I??
Even Certain Dprod models have been 'updated' as a well respected member here said-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=franks-dp-01-sm.jpg
No big deal I guess in trying to go for a certain look.
Anyway a lot of race cars look similar, I have a pic of a 968 which looks like your 944 race car,
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=1203479805lb.jpg
So whats the big deal if they are similar. Dont members copy experiment share ideas with each other here?
Your comments are welcome though and thanks.
To ideola yes yur right about the 5 lug conversion , lets just say Im working on it and hoping for the best. Im trying to track down a damaged 944 which was bought by an insurance company some time ago, hopefully they still have it and its the right model/year too. My mech also states that he is sure of somesort of VW front rear disc system which might (just might) fit, this would be interesting to know.
In the mean time though this car has had its braking system /pads etc renewed and serviced recently by its previous owner just before I purchased it. They feel good.

Sorry, I stand corrected
Now I can see the full image rather than clicking through to the terribly slow photobucket links I can see it looks completely different. Your sketch is much more 'ricey'. Its now so obvious the front and rear bumpers are smoothed in. Is that a Subaru WRX roof scoop and Japanese writing on the rear tea tray? _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

No thats not japanese writing on the rear wing, im sure you missed the original skecth were the letters are more clear, they dont stand for anything actually from my point of view.
The scoop is not a subaru scoop either since its on a 924, scoops are found on all types of cars including 944 and 968- maybe this would help you out-
http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j349/iqssm/?action=view¤t=1140734381la.jpg
The scoop here is found on a race 968 I think they call 'ORCA' design but I stand to be corrected.
The scoop is quite exagerated on this car , I might include a smaller air scoop since all side windows will be shut closed.
It might look ricey but sure looks different and racy.
Nothing to be sorry about my friend, We are here to help each other, if i didnt want to read any critisism I would'nt have posted the topic. comments sometimes direct one towards the 'right' direction. We all have our likes and dislikes.
Thanks again.
