Man what a King size PITA this was to get out... Took over 45 minutes to unscrew the top bolt on the bracket that
goes around the torque tube..
using a 13 mm box end and my fingers.

Not good. I'm sure you know this, but you're asking for a cracked flange at the dump pipe and one or the other end of the j-pipe.
Hmm. I don't recall it being so hard to deal with upon installation...but maybe it's because I was working with all new hardware??? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

It's not. . .you usually leave the u-bolt in place and unbolt the assembly from it (unless it needs replacement). _________________ Toofah King Bad

If you remove the K-member you don't have to pull the TT back. _________________ Stefan

I need to source another bracket though... mine was broken. _________________ 1981 931 CGT replica, OEM CGT intercooler, .8 BAR WG spring, GTS Headlights, Innovative Wide band A/F, A/C delete, 16" Fuchs, Weltmeister 200lb lowering springs, Bilstein HDs front, Koni Sport rears. |

Which part do you need? The C clamp deal for the torque tube, or the flat piece that bolts to the wastegate? I might have a spare or two in my stash... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Definitely use the bracket, or a cracked J-Tube is inevitable. It may even occur with the bracket. Suggest bolting everything together, than tightening up the bracket and/or torque tube clamp, so the brackets don't put stress on the assembly. I recall that removing the heat shield helps with access.
There is a heavy-duty upgraded bracket that superseded the original, and actually a clamp that bridges and connects the J-Tube and exhaust pipe, I think, that reduces vibration. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

Or put an expansion / flex coupler in the j-pipe, like this:
