Hey folks, here's my issue..
Car wont start all the time. when I bought it the gentleman said to tap on the computer under the dash to get it to start. I wasn't too sure of his mechanical ablities, so I checked all the basics...Plugs, wires, cap rotor, etc... did a tune up and runs smoother now WHEN IT STARTS. Decided to pull the ECM out and look for physical problems, opened her up and nothing is obvious. The car is getting fuel, but seems not to get spark. the last couple times it did start, it ran for a short while then died. it does get fuel and the fuel pressure is good, just seems like it's losing spark. the crank sensors were replaced shortly before the guy sold it, so they are good. Any suggestions? or common problems? Its also got a leaky steering rack, but i'll work on that one later... |

Call George at 944ecology.com and see what he wants for a spare ECU. . .this is the path of least resistance, especially if you lack experience tracing and repairing bad solder joints on a PCB. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I had almost the exact same issue with my 88 924s when i got it. Mine would not start at all. Plenty of fuel but no spark. It turned out that the ECU was fried. I had it rebuilt, cost around 350$ i think. According to the guys who fixed it, the grounding transistor that pulses the coil was toast. This transistor sees a good deal of current, as well as very fast switching applications, thus no surprise that this was the issue. The guy said it was a common problem and based on there turn around time i'd say it was and they knew what they were doing. The car has run great for 4 years since then.
I think these were the guys

If you want some more flexibility and performance you could always upgrade to a Mega squirt. or motec etc.
