Fabulous sunny day here in the SE of England so blew the cobwebs off the 932 and came up with the list of Spring jobs to do...
Front crossmember needs replacing as it's not as straight as it was.
Top mounts.
Pin hole in rad where the bleed screw is brazed to the end tank.
Fit undertray which has been in the garage for months.
Rattles from the back (rear seat mechanism probably).
Adjust WUR cold control pressure (too high)
Replace the blower fan and stop that infernal squeeking noise.
So here's a question: can I fit the later cast crossmember from the 944? Will need a new rack of course and it would be nice to fit the cast (forged?) lower control arms too as these parts are all pretty cheap and easy to come by in the UK. I have a feeling that the later control arms give the wrong geometry on the 924 but what about the crossmember? _________________ 1981 931 series2 Euro spec |

The alu cross member is not bolt-in, you would have to fabricate mounting points on the chassis spars, and then you would have to find a '44 manual rack or use a depowered power steering rack.
FWIW, the early offset alu A-arms can be used on the '24. In terms of geometry, they are the same as the steel A-arms. It will require slight modification to the steel cross member, however. There is a support brace that prevents the larger diameter boss on the alu A-arm from fitting all the way into the recess in order to align the bolt holes. This is easily overcome by cutting the support brace about two inches up on each side and then bending that portion of the support brace out of the way. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Great thanks. I won't go for the crossmember then but looks like it's a yes for the A-arms. _________________ 1981 931 series2 Euro spec |
