I'm considering buying a 78 924 with the AC that is controlled by the 2 levers on the cent vent. I assume the AC is INOP and the compressor seal and all the O-rings will need to be replaced. I have done that to my 944's so I think I will be able to handle it.
What compressor does it use?
Are parts available (seals, bearings, ect)
Does it work very well?
Has anyone ever retrofitted a Sanden 508 compressor in?
I assume I will have to cram a bigger condenser in to make it work well in Arizona heat. It doesn't seem like that big of a problem.
Thanks,

I had a 78 for a while and IIRC it was activated by a big black knob in the middle of the lower gauge panel. You popped it out one click and the ac would engage. Spin it and it changed fan speeds. Did not work well but better than nothing.
Part #s I have no idea. Check PET or pelican or something I'd say. |

| My 84 had the same controls for the AC as your car. I think this car I'm looking at probably has Dealer add-on AC. |

My 79NA has a nippondenso compressor. I had a local company rebuild it for $180 US. Every major city has one or more of these shops. They rebuild a/c compressors for the local auto repair shops. The drier is 3rd party and readily available as are new o-rings. _________________ 1979 NA 924
