|
Driving last night the lights went out on my project car..touching the switch the came back on, but there seems to be a short cutting them out..made it home tried to flip the light switch, but it is frozen...won't move...turned car off, but lights stayed on
Tried to re-start twice and nothing happened..third time it started, but still could not move the switch..
removed the battery (-) cable so it wouldn't run down
any ideas? |

I once had the motor relay short out and melt my switch, causing what you describe.
The switch will need to be replaced, but you must find what caused the issue, or it will only melt your new switch. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior

I ck'd the relay and it works as it should...switch is burnt/melted on inside.
did you finally find what caused your switch to short/melt?
the car now does not crank unless jumped...and it starts...I thought it may not have been charged well when I bought it and really haven't had a chance to really drive it to charge...
but it should at least turn over after driving about 10min.... |

The relay was the problem in my case. It must have been damaged while I was working under the hood.
If your relay is fine, then I would check for bare wires. Also make sure you are using the correct fuses. This will help protect the switch. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior
