Just wondering where to measure a head from to determine it it can be skimmed.

If the head is under the wear limit, you can make up for it (within reason) with a thicker gasket. If you take the wear limit and add the .051" standard gasket thickness, that is the true minimum figure you need to shoot for. The 5-layer Cometic gaskets come in the following increments:
.060" .066" .070" .075" .080" .086" .092" .098" and .120"
The .120" gasket is expen$ive at $220; the other 5-layer versions are $132, while the .051" and smaller 3-layer versions are $95. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
