Hey everyone
I was looking in my gas tank when I took the sending unit out to clean - I wanted to see about debris - I was thankful to see little - and I did not see a second fuel pump that I thought I was supposed to have -
Does anyone know what the cut-off was for the single pump set-up before the 2 pump was employed?
I thought it was 1979, but I am not as sure now - unless it is not visible from above?
Am I just not seeing it (maybe fumes got to me)?
Thanks very much for you help

I have a 79, and when I cleaned my fuel sending unit, I looked into the tank and didnt see one.
Pretty sure 79s do not have an in-tank pump. _________________ 1979 924

I did not see one either, but I did not know if it would be visible from the sender opening or if they somehow hid it under something else -
I also noticed there seems to be a time in '79 where they may be one and at some point it changed to 2 pumps - anyone know how valid that is?
thanks again _________________ 1979 924 n/a

According to the 77-79 PET, chassis numbers F-92491-03158 thru F-92494-00051 were the late models which got the 928 in-tank pump, along with the 911 inline fuel pump, and the single 40cc accumulator. There were three additional variations prior to those chassis:
F-92491-00001 thru F-92491-03157 got the 911 inline fuel pump, the single 40cc accumulator, and the pre-pump filter.
F-92461-04800 thru F-92481-99999 got the 911 inline fuel pump, the dual 20cc accumulator, and the pre-pump filter.
Up thru F-92461-04800 got an "810" numbered inline fuel pump with a single 20cc accumulator and no pre-pump filter.
So what this tells us is that in the 79 model year, the first 3,157 cars did NOT have an in-tank pump, and everything thereafter did. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

thanks Dan -
So it sounds like I should have an in tank pump if my number starts 92492----
does that sound correct?
and if so, would this pump be visible from the sender hole? (I would think so but looked in and did not see one)
thanks again
