Hey I am trying to get all the hoses hooked up on my car and I am following this diagram http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/95/vacuumlinestg7.jpg/ I have two questions from the experts...

1: I know why the aux air valve is hooked up to the intake manifold but why is the second hose on the intake? (other than the brakebooster) can I eliminate it and run the brakebooster else where? If not where does the end hook up to? I had it on the black plastic box that holds the fuel dissy but it was pulling unmetered air because the hook up was before the airfilter.

2: The crankcase breather hose says it has a restrictor in it.... I do not have the original hose or restrictor, what can I do to replace it? I was thinking a check valve but wanted to know what you guys would recommend.

A restrictor can be a piece of broom handle with a 6mm hole in it, jammed in the hose.
The crankcase breather can be connected to either the place shown or the airbox, block off the one you dont use.

The hose connection shown is one possible way of connecting them. Different models had different fittings.

Ozzie, so all the restrictor is, is just something to bring the diameter down to 6mm? So not a check valve? Also is the second hose on the intake only for the brake booster?

Let the hose hang and plug the hole on the intake, good to go!

Joe, if I do that where do I run the brake booster?

I may be confused, but the BB hose should come off the back side of the mani, tees off to a check valve, to intake and to the BB.

I do believe the CC breather hose comes off the CC straight to the intake. At least, that's how it is on my '81.

The link to imageshack is one of mine and is how my ROW car is setup.
The restrictor is just a reducer not a check valve.

The hose off the intake manifold goes to a Y piece and goes to the intake boot and BB.
US cars have charcoal canisters and other emission gear I know little about.

On my 80 N/A there is a "y" fitting in the hose that splitts off the hose to the brake booster. In that fitting(which is plastic) there is a restrictor. If that was missing I wouldn't think the booster would get enough vac. to work properly. It's a controlled vac. leak to the air intake. The other hose goes to the EEC control valve which vents the canister/fuel tank. In the pic. where it says Air Box there is a port above, that also has a hose on it from the canister. On a 80 N/A (if everything else is in factory condition) the EEC system is the ONLY vent you have for the fuel tank. If you disconnect this system the fuel tank will build pressure and push fuel up into the canister and you will be wondering "why is my left front fender leaking fuel?"

That's the same layout as on my car.

I had to replace my crankcase breather because a PO tried to patch it. So I just put a nut in the end of the hose to be the restricter. I think it was a 6mm hole.

Wade.

Good plan, kinda wish I could keep mine all original, but I think this engine might be getting pretty tired, so I'm just trying to keep it running as good as possible.
