Hi: New to this forum and to 924 Porsche.
Have a chance to buy a 77 924 Martini edition. Car have a gas line leak and the interior needs to be redone. Everything is there just the front seats need to be redone. I am reading that the material for the seats is not easy to find.
Is that true? Is this car worth anything? I am also reading that they are not worth much unless they are in really great condition.
If fixed up and somewhat clean would you be able to sell it for maybe 2500? Oh, does not have the strips, but lots of new parts. Have not heard it run because the gas line was leaking. Don't think it can get much pressure for the car to start.
What do you think????
Any help would be great,

hello and welcome.
The martini is a cool car if you can get one in or into good condition. There are a couple of things worth noting.
There is no performance difference.
As you mentioned, the seat fabric and vinyl seat striping is difficult to obtain. I've never heard of it actually being available but I've never done that homework. Maybe someone else here knows.
The stripes are avaliable but only in the aftermarket.
The very, very, very best martini will bring maybe 5-7k here in the US depending on many things. So, while the martini edition might land a slight premium, it is still a 77 924, and that brings all the baggage that comes with it.
This next statement will probably draw a bit of debate, but I'd say a clean running, nice interior, no rust 1977 924, defrocked martini or otherwise, would struggle to land 2k these days. JMHO
All that being said, we will be happy help to get you up and running. So get that fuel line fixed and let's go! |

Lots of Interior trims available at www.werk924.com including Martini seat covers ready to go for €1000 or so. Also full decal kits.
Despite there being no mechanical difference between stock 924 or Martini, if two were offered in same condition and provenance the Martini would easily be the more desirable and therefore more valuable car in the long run.
Now which colour white are you going to respray it!!?? _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

thanks for all the good information. One more question. Can I assume that a major leak in the hose that comes out of the hard line; in the rubber line right under the fuel distributor would keep the car from starting??? I know from work with the bmw's I have had that the fuel dist. has to reach a high pressure to work. My other question is; would this same leak keep the fuel out of the engine so that it would not fire at all?
thanks for all the good input and the link to the site with the seat material. A little expensive:), but then again how many people are making this material.
The guy wants 2k for the car, but in its condition I am thinking maybe 900. Does that sound about right?
thanks again,

Yup. Fuel pressure is very high in these systems so be careful with a major leak. Personally I would not buy any car I can't test drive unless it was around $500 bucks. Its a big gamble since you can't go to the FLAPS and get a WUR, or fuel distributor.
Pricing on those if you need new ones.

Yes the Martini (correctly known as the World Championship Edition) is a rare model. Only 3000 produced, 2k to USA 1k to Europe, worth saving but retrim of interior is expensive as unique to this model. Before spending too much, check with Porsche that this really is a Martini, many repro's exist. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

Thanks for helping me to decide to keep looking. The owner is thinking about 1300.00 for the car. That might be a good price, but the interior does need to be redone. It is a 'real' Comp. Ed. I checked the vin number.
Who knows; maybe I will find something better in the new year:)
