hey everyone,

Things seemed to be going a little better driving-wise lately. However (there always seems to be a however ) I noticed an intermittent popping. It was slight and not very loud or pronounced. So I did not think much of it - everything else seemed pretty good.

When I was driving the last few times, I noticed a hesitation at about 3500 when cruising- I could accelerate through it. At other times, when accelerating to 4000 (in any gear but 5th) it seemed to hit a wall. It was hesitating and almost choking. When I would shift, it was fine until I accelerated up to 4k again.

Could this be a fuel issue? Or something internal?

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

thanks
Sean

There was a recent discussion about the rev curve and someone commented that the shape of the venturi and the compromises inherent in a mechanical system means the engine tends to run a little lean in the middle of the range. You could make the mixture a little richer and see if the problem goes away. And by "a little", I mean no more than 1/8th of a turn at a time.

Wade.

Thanks Wade - I will give that a try -

I was afraid I might be running out of fuel. I was thinking about checking my system pressure also - do you think that may also be a concern?

thanks again

Sean

You could have a clogged fuel filter, or maybe even a faulty fuel line that is restricting fuel flow.

I did just get a new fuel filter for the spring - I'll try that now as well.

Faulty fuel line - as in corroded? Is there a good check for that - maybe blow air through the line? after disconnecting the fuel accum.?

does that sound right/ok?

thanks very much everyone!

Sean

Fuel flow test will determine if you have a clogged filter or problem fuel line. I don't think blowing air through would be a good way to test it.
