Inside the cabin the back side pieces are needed. Slight water damage over the years separated the vinyl from the cardboard. [Speaker cover]

Edit: I'm an idiot that put 944 interior panels into my 924 because they don't work. So never mind.
I'll stop trying to help and just go I to lurk mode, maybe I'll figure it out eventually.

Stefan, I mean you no personal offense, and I'll apologize in advance if you find this pedantic.
Unfortunately, the 944/924S interior panels are not the same as on the 2.0L cars (944 prefix vs. 477 prefix, respectively). They are close and can be made to work, but the latch catch for the folding rear seat is different...the part that bolts to the C pillar. There is a big round hole on the 944 liner whereas the 924 liner is more elongated. They don't quite match up, so you have to muck around with the 944 hole to get it to fit around the 924 catch.
In addition, the gas filler cover is different on the 944 than the early cars. The 944 cover has a squarish profile, while the 924 is more rounded. As a result, the 944 inner panel on that side won't fit the 924 correctly, and will leave gaps above the carpet rather than conforming to the curve.
You can install the 944 liners, but there will be gaps. I know all of this because I have installed 944 inner panels on the 941 because I couldn't find any early ones that were in good enough condition. The casual observer probably won't notice because it's well hidden when the seat is up. But when the seat is folded down, you can definitely see that the panels don't quite fit right.

Perhaps, Stefan, you failed to see the part of my post where I indicated that I too made the 944 interior liners work??? Nobody is calling you an idiot.
What you said (but have since edited out) was that the early 944 parts were the same as 924 parts. They are NOT the same. Different people have different standards of restoration. For you and I, perhaps the parts are "close enough" to meet our standard of restoration. Maybe, just maybe, Ponz (or others) would care to know that they're not exactly the same.
As for me, after spending my own hard-earned $$$ to purchase a good set of quarter liners, and then spending several hours removing the window seals and carefully reinstalling them so as not to tear the fragile fabric that has to get tucked up under the quarter window seals, I was quite disappointed to learn that the liners were not an exact fit, and required me to cut them in order to get the seat latches to install and operate correctly.
In the end, laziness got the better of me, and I chose not to tear them back out and wait for the correct 2.0L parts, especially given how hard they are to find in usable condition. But for the benefit of others, in my opinion, it is worth pointing out that the 944 liners are NOT the same as 924 liners.
Now, I am truly sorry if I trampled on your apparently fragile ego by pointing this out.

I'll post some images of the set I pulled out of my 82 924 teh vinyl is black and in good shape the cardboard backing around the seat pivot area is more flexible than the other portions. a thin coat of fiberglass resin brushed on teh backing does a decent job of stiffening them up and can help flatten or influence them to follow the desired contour.
