My coolant expansion tank seems to have sprung a leak in the dimple, which seems like a common failure mode.

It seems the part is now NLA.

So, a search shows there's a Scirocco tank that's a suitable retrofit for the 931 tank. Not having one, and knowing the 924 and 931 tanks are different, will the Scirocco tank fit the 924? Or any other tanks?

I hear lots of people do the 944 tank conversion. What does that buy me other than a way forward? I take it that's an option for the 924? Seems most often it's in the context of 931's by the looks of it.

Any suggestions on how to plug the leak in the dimple 'till I get a replacement sorted out?

I saw a suggestion elsewhere to get a 944 tank from rennbay, but I couldn't find one on the site. Any tips on how to do so?

I got a 944 tank a while back and then found that it doesn't fit if the stock NA airbox and the ignition box are in their standard locations. I'll retry it again today with the idea of moving the ignition and report back.

Wow! You always seem to have a knack for finding things.

I've got a used one on now that seems to be doing the trick. I'm going to see about an alternative for the long term.

You can use a 944 tank on a 924 NA, but you wont be able to open the airbox to change the filter w/o removing it. Ask me how I know.

If its leaking at the dimple, fill the dimple with JB Weld or JB Quick and try again.

In my experience, fixes like that don't last long term. My replacement has a slow enough leak so that it is manageable for the time being.

I was thinking of other ways to make a more permanent repair, but I'd rather replace with a new one if it's an option.
