So uhhh,.. I opened this up,.. this is what I found,... Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this?

Probably because it was overheating (which could be for any number of reasons).

When you put the new one in, be sure it is matched to the thermo switch that turns on the fans. Oh, and be sure to bleed the system properly. Lots of stuff here on 924.org about both subjects.

LOL.... Well, I was told that the thermostat is located at the water pump and not in this water neck. I also found out that the water flow goes from the bottom end (water pump) up through the engine and then out this water neck back to the radiator.



I just installed a temp sending unit in that water neck and found that the water leaving the engine runs about 200F no matter what. Yes it does go up or down maybe 10F - 20F depending on air flow, but it is very constant.

good catch Rasta, looking at it again I see the differance & I didnt see that the OP had an early 924. Sorry about that........
