Blew my head gasket (d'oh)

While examining the head the next day i noticed that my camshaft oil seal blew out :

Anybody know why this would happen?

could it be more than my head gasket that went poof?

I sure hope not as I need her running by saturday in the early am

Depends on how it blew I guess. Sounds like you might have pressurized the crankcase and that pushed the cam seal out? If its even possible I'd think that's pretty hard to do but you never know. Be sure to check the rest of the engine to be sure you didn't blow anything else out ...

Interesting. I guess if the gasket is bad enough you could pressurize the crank case enough to pop a seal out like that.

Or the head warped enough to tweak the bore the seal sits in and it fell out.

Either way, I would replace it and double check the bottom end to make sure nothing else has happened with the seals, etc.

Head is on with new gaskets all round (including the oil seal)

head bolts come in tomorrow so I won't be able to crank it until the late evening.

I'll see how it goes... fingers crossed

Might be a good idea to check your crank case breather hose that goes from the back drivers side of the block to the air meter box just to make sure its breathing properly. I seem to remember that when I changed mine it was gunk or the hose had collapsed.
P.S. If you come across the border this weekend just make sure you have the correct I.D. / passport. State side they have a special enhanced drivers license which I don't have.
Cheers!
Brian
