Hello all,

Two weeks ago I purchased a 1977.5 924 from the original owner. It's in fantastic condition with only 68k miles. I pulled the center console to repair two heater control cables and pull the old non-working stereo. While putting everything back together I noticed that the AC compressor wasn't working. After poking around I discovered the micro switch was not connected to anything. Something needs to 'bump' the little switch mechanism holding it in the 'on' (depressed) position so that the AC clutch runs - but I can't find a place for it. This has not been fun and I've found that the plastic that the console is made of has become very brittle.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board!

The A/C in these cars even when new was almost worthless, but if you want to try to get it to work, post a picture since many early US 924s had dealer installed A/C.

let me know if you need pictures or close up of some of the parts as I removed my AC and everything in cabin was in good condition, issue for me was the AC pump had seized.

Thanks guys. I decided to forego the micro switch and run a lead to one of the empty toggles on the rear of the console. Huge pain trying to work around and in the small spaces, especially for someone who doesn't fit in small spaces very well! I hope to get the new stereo (Blaupunkt head unit) installed, the windows tinted, and the front seats (bottom cushion seams) repaired this year. Next year, hopefully, I can get the AC recharged. After that, just general maintenance.
