So,. I am getting rather annoyed with this thermo switch for the starting injector. Would it be a good idea to just remove the thing and wire the two wires together? Or, at least run wires to a switch to the dash so that I can override it when I want to? Doing quick runs to the store with this car is a nightmare, I have to crank the hell out of the starter to get cool water into the coolant line to flip the switch. What risk is it of putting fuel into a hot engine? I would assume none.
Why was this thermo switch installed in the first place? does is even have a purpose other then emissions? |

Bad idea.
The thermo time switch is used to fire the cold start injector. You should not need it to fire on warm or hot starts. If the car is not starting in the conditions you describe, you do not have a cold start problem, and jumpering the cold start valve is only going to saturate the plugs and make the car even harder to start.
One thing to be aware of is that the proper method of hot-starting is to press and hold the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor, THEN turn the key. It's right in the owners manual (although you may not have one). So try that and see if it helps.
As we've suggested before, you need to get a proper CIS tester and identify the source of the problem. Diagnosing CIS is not hard, it's just different.
To get started, read here:

And, if you can't find a CIS test kit to buy, here's how to make your own:

Bear in mind, you are dealing with a system that has been hacked by a previous owner, so you are undoubtedly going to have a tougher go at figuring out what they hacked, what's working, and what's not. I don't envy you that. No sir. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

| Ditch that CIS and get some Webers. I had them on my 77 and loved them. |

I did not know that about pressing the pedal all the way to the floor. I don't have an owners manual. So thanks for the tip.
The car runs great now and has no issues with fuel pressure anymore. Once it finally cranks over it runs just fine. |
