|
|
I recently decided it was time to drain the coolant system to put fresh new coolant in. (not sure when previous owner did it last)
With the coolant being drained I figured it would be a good time to replace the thermostat and aux fan switch. (replaced them to a lower activating temperature)
Now the car never reaches temperatures above 1/2 on gauge while sitting at lights and is rarely above a quarter when driving on highway.
I notice my fans cut on just below 1/2.
After running the vehicle for a while I notice:
1. The top radiator hose and engine block get hot to the touch.
2. The hose from water pump to bottom or radiator remains significantly cooler than the above mentioned parts.
I want to assume the system is functioning properly (with fans on radiator activating) but i'm not really sure I understand the direction the coolant is supposed to flow and worried about the hose temperature differences..
is this normal?
Thanks,

The coolant enters the block at the thermostat and exits through the top hose. So everything you are describing is normal. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior
