Hi all,

'87 924S

My fuel pump had a leak in it, so I finally got around to tracking down another one and got it recently.

First off, before I changed it out, my car ran just fine, albeit the fuel leak from the pump. Smelled of gas really bad and was able to visually see it leaking.

So I visited Clarks Garage and followed the directions. It was a tight fit for tools under there, (should've taken the wheel off) but managed to get it done. However, when I was trying to pry the fuel line from the tank to the pump off the old one, I accidentally knocked my clamp off of the line and I drank about a gallon of gas. Not really, but I smelled like it and in the ensuing struggle to get out from under there I lost damn near all of it. There wasn't much in there to start with though.

Now the new pump is on and everything is hooked back up, (DME, battery). I added about 5-6 gallons of gas and I go to start the car. It will crank and crank and crank but won't turn over.

First thing I suspect is the pump isn't working. So , I have my wife come try to start the car while I wrap my hand around pump to see if I feel it working. I can feel it moving inside, so I assume it's good.

I have a new DME relay that I've had in the glovebox, so I can change it out, but since my pump is working doesn't it rule that out?

Anyway, I'm no expert, so please give me some advice if you have it.

Appreciate you guys.

Yep, does your tach bounce when cranking?
