I'm looking at a few cars-an ,80 931 that doesn't run[no start-fuel issue] but has good compression for about $2500 asking & an na 924 [green] that I think belongs to a list member in Vancouver. The 944 is about the same money but is a running, driving car. How much do you think it would cost for the worst case scenario for the 931? Pros-cons on a 944 versus 924 especially the timing belt issue on the 944 versus the K-jet fuel & maintenance issues on the 931. This would be a winter car while i do the rust/ body issues on my megasquirted '72 Volvo 1800ES- you can stop laughing now- It's bulletproof & has shown it's tail too many an early Porsche! Thanks for any & all input.

The 944 is a better winter car than a 931. Running is always better than not. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

the 931 you are looking at on craigslist has come down in price from 4000$ 3 weeks ago, to 1900$ as of right now. i would not pay more than 500$ for it if it doesnt run. _________________ Riley

I went & looked at the 931 today. LOTS of issues! Body is fair interior 3 out of 10 but it has mildew. Batt dead- wouldn't even charge up- couldn't do compression test. Fuse box corroded, no power to fuel pump relay or coil. Hatch linkage broken. etc, etc. The owner offered to let it go for $1000, but even at that it's dubious. Maybe for 5-700 but I don't need another huge project. Maybe someone else will. I think it's worth saving. I'll look at the 944 this week. Thanks for the input.
