I have a 81 standard 924 that after a issue with higher RPM fuel cut out or lean issue as tested on a dyno the shop has determined I need a new control pressure regulator but I can't find one through the normal sources.
Does anyone know of a interchangeable part from another car-or a source that sells a rebuilt one? |

Run-on sentences are hard to follow! What exactly is the shop recommending?
Ok, let's start from the beginning, what is the problem? _________________ '83 944 Track car.

WUR toast, is what I got out of that. Can be cleaned if need be. Try searching for a warm-up regulator.

Dave, why are you here when there's a head to be pulled? And I mean that politely, of course... _________________ '88 944 Auto - may or may not resurrect |

Look also from Ebay. Search for Porsche 924 warm up regulator. And notice that n/a and turbo warm up regulators are slightly different. It is perhaps better option to buy a rebuilt one because used ones tend to fail anyway at some point. Tomorrow or in 2015, who knows.
It is sometimes a tough crowd to please here on 924board but you should just stick around and grow thicker skin. The best information can be found here. Other boards like Rennlist.... a lot of 924 hate there, just bollocks. _________________ Mikko

This is just an observation, you would have to check it out, but when I was looking around a VW golf the other week to see if there were any parts I could scavenge, I thought that the WUR looked very similar. I do know however that the golf had 4 slightly different WUR's and I dont know if they are interchangeable with each other, if any or all are interchangeable with the 924, or if the 924 has slightly different WUR's depending on build year. In the short time I have had my 924 I have gotten a few bits from a golf that is sitting at a friends wrecking yard. I was surprised to see how many bits were similar. The interior light and quite a few trim bits I took, but considered a few CIS bits as many looked similar.
Just thought it may be worth looking into further. You could try using WUR in the sites search function. Sometimes this helps. If I cant find it by searching then I usually ask on the board. The information the guys here have is first class. I have worked on other Porsche models before and used other boards when doing it, and from my experience this board is probably the best information around about any one model. |

It's already off the block, and I'm in the process of trying to get one last bent valve removed. I can't 'squish' the springs enough to get the retainers out. I'm using a magnet, and am sooooo close. Not sure the head is salvageable, the valves hit the edge of each combustion chamber and there's damage. grrrrr. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Is the shop familiar with CIS systems and were they able to really test the fuel system? You could save some dough by getting a CIS tester and a haynes manual to get some baseline readings.

Yes the shop is quite familiar with the CIS system. The shop specializes in Porsche and tech worked on them when the CIS launched. The diagnoses came after the shop ran the car on the dyno with gauges connected. The system will go extremely lean at about 3500 rpm. It idles fine, driving under 3500 rpm it performs well, just stumbles above a certain RPM.
The prior owner didn't store the car properly and stored it for about 6 years outside without treating the gas. I did the things I could- replaced the pumps; changed the injectors; had the distributor rebuilt, ect. The fuel was just terrible prior to the draining of the tank. The system is almost all new and hopefully after this is replaced nothing else shows its ugly head. |
