So I got off work today and started my car. (Btw it drove fine to work with no problems) I started up fine but was kinda bogging down a little bit, almost unoticable. Then it shut off. So I started it back up again and thought maybe I was close to running out of gas so i drove to the light to leave works and l noticed my cluster was acting funny. I want to say that nothing was working . When I got to the light to head to the gas station the car shut off again so I started it back up with no problem and headed to the gas station which was less than a quarter mile away from me. Halfway to the gas station the car shut off again, so I coasted into a parking spot and tried starting it again. This time it would turnover but the engine wouldn't start. So I pushed it into a stall and put half a tank in it. And after I did that it started up fine. Started to go again and it dies. So I finally parked it and I noticed that it will fully turnover if the parking brake is on. If the parking brake isn't pulled up the car won't turn over. And when it was running it's idling kinda funny and the rpm isn't working now. When I go to put it in reverse it just dies on the spot. I had the battery replaced recently so I doubt it's that. But could you help me.
P.s this might or might not help but when I'm dead stopped and I do a burnout i sometimes see a spark come through the hood or something maybe the battery tapped the hood? Idk it's clamped down. Not completely because I've got a nut I just found to half ass hold it in place. It's my DD I've been driving it for 2 weeks now. Before that it say covered up under a tarp for awhile. I've replaced the battery, done a oil change I know I need to a lot more than just that but I'm slowly working my way up to that. Other than that it's been running like a champ for the past few weeks
Sorry this story might be jumbled. I'm just trying to include every piece of info. _________________ Brett |

Sounds like your DME relay is going out. Swap in another and see if that fixes your problem.
The handbrake switch is only for the light on the dash and console; it shouldn't have any effect on the car starting.
The flicker or spark you are most likely seeing under the hood when you do a burnout is the engine bay light coming on. It is operated via a mercury switch and anytime the headlights are on you can activate it by accelerating rapidly. On an N/A, you'll likely only see it when you start from a dead stop. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior
