I'm changing out my pads, and it looks like the originals were still on here! I am using the Wagner MX445 like all the parts places say, but when I install them, it leave about 2mm worth of space for my rotor. The pads are 17.62mm thick total. Anyone else have this problem? I almost want to grind down the pads to make them fit. The pads that were on there were rectangular, and these new ones are shaped weird with a place for a sensor. Any ideas? The Duralast pads are the same as the Wagners.

Double check the part numbers, I don't trust the parts guys. Not only that a lot of times you have to do your own home work for these cars. My car i have to tell them the part number for my fuel filter as the one they have in their computers is for after March 1977, I have a '76.

I don't know how to post pics on this site or I would show a pick. The pads on it now are like small squares with the two holes on the top. The new ones have the dip in the metal at the top for I'm guessing a sensor. The new pads fit, they are just too thick. My 924 is a 1979 base na. It I took off about 4mm from the pad it would fit. It's just really odd.

Did you by chance get the oversize 0.5 mm brake pad repair set? Is the part number of the Bake Pad Repair Set 477 698075A or is it PN 477698076A (oversize 0.50 mm)?

A quick check of some online parts dealers show these part numbers as equivalent for '79 924 pads (which cannot be the case even thought they might be interchangeable): 477698075A ; 111-698-075; 111-698-075-B; 111698075; 111698075B; 477-698-075; 477698075

It's not the oversize set. If anyone can tell me how to attach a pic, I will show you. I referenced these through Pelican, OReillyAuto, Autozone, and a couple others.

The "official way" to post images is described on this board here:
Including Pictures With Your Posts

A simple way, often done, but sometimes frowned upon by Webmasters because it is sometimes technically a violation of copyright, is to find the appropriate image in say a Google image search, right click on the image you want, click "open link in new tab" in the pop-up menu, and when the Google image page appears, click on the button "Visit Page." (It's my understanding many parts dealers don't mind copying the images because it's good public relations and they generally can't copyright the image since the copyright belongs to the manufacturer of the product).

Next right click anywhere on the image, and then click on the text in the pop-up menu "copy image location."

Paste this to your reply message-body edit-box on the 924board site by right click in the text box and click "Paste."

Finally put image "tags" around the URL of the image. The image will show up in the preview of your message if there are no typo's.

So in the text-box you will have a line like this with the image "tags" surrounding the URL of the image:

[img]URL location of the image here[/img]

Or, or another way for the tags, you can just highlight the URL of the image in the text-edit box with your mouse and click the "Img" button at the top of the text box which will "automagically" insert the tags for you.

So, in brief, copy the image location URL, paste it in the text box, and flank it with image tags (incl. the forward slash in the trailing tag).

Edit tag completion 23 March 2014

To post a pic,.. take a pic on your phone, upload it to photobucket, get the direct link from there then do this

[img]your_image_here.jpg[/img]

to get an image from another site, right click it and "copy image url" and do the same,..

[url]copied_URL_image.jpg[/url]

quick way to do it is to paste the link, double click it to highlight the entire link and click "Img" it will auto code it for you. Then his preview to see if you done it right.

It doesn't appear that the piston is compressed all the way in. You could use a caliper piston compressor, c-clamp or large channel locks. Make sure you use a old pad on top of the piston to push on. Pushing on the bottom of the piston (the bottom of the cup), can and will often crack it. You can open the bleeder screw to make it easier. You might be able to push the piston in by hand if open the bleeder screw. You will also need to slide the piston housing in the frame of the caliper to make room enough to get it to fit on the rotor.

Thx Jason. I'll give it a shot. I did see online that a pair of Kevlar raising pads look just like the little square originals but I'm not about to pay $152 for brakes on my little na. Trying to get some bodywork done before I do a total paint job. I appreciate the input.

The later cars have wear sensors & use the same pad so they only make one style street pad rather than two. I'm doing the final prep for paint now too (I'm working on a 951s).
