This looks nice ! It is good news for my K26 931
I wonder if they will do the same for the K27 so my red 924 can also spool up faster. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Well, ive been thinking of doing something like this. I work together with an expert in wheel design. So ive been thinking if he could make a drop in billet wheel based on his knowledge, would be nice! I just need s spare 2664 wheel, which i don't have... _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Excuse my limited knowledge of turbo, but would a faster spool up mean dying faster or would it hold up to the same top end. _________________ 1976 924 N/A ROW SOLD

Given a constant housings, spool up depends on inertia of compressor and turbine wheels. Efficiency and flow are dependent of compressor wheel design. So if you can make any particular compressor wheel lighter, this will improve spool up without any changes in flow characteristics. _________________ WBR, Shurick

I can send you one, I think its a bit chipped but IIRC I have one.
I'll look for it. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I will also check with gegge if he still have some stuff left..
I would need an intercooler first, its nice to have some collector if the compressor wheel goes blam, so all the alu debris doesnt crash the engine But that is on the way _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I emailed this guy Kevin from ultimatemotorwerks about a K27 compressor wheel they make and sell. From his emails it seems to me he's one of those 911 snobs.
I asked if they can sell me a lighter K27 compressor wheel and i'd expect it to move the boost threshold down 200RPM.
He said that the K27 is not for a 2L and its meant for the 3.4 engines..aldough i explained i have a hybrid turbo with a smaller turbine.
If i'm stupid and i dont know what i'm talking about i would expect from him/them to send out a more elaborate answer..but he said the turbine controls the spoolup and i should look for a large frame K24 or a VW VNT diesel turbo.
Anyway, so no buying from them i guess.
Any other sources for billet compressor wheels?
Cédric, did you get that wheel? do you want me to send mine?
EDIT: oh, Chinese wheel:

I worke with turbo matching every day, not one day have i seen a compressor that knows how many cylinders or volume its connected to turbine is where the most of thr the spool up is dictated though. But a modern compressor would help performance in every way of course.
I didn't have the resources to measure the wheel profile. Though he said he could easily make me a wheel optimized for our cars flow profile if o just haf the dimensions. Cant you do imeasure it at work?
3k eur is the base setup cost for machining, which killed it a bit. Maybe maybe they could machine it at work for training purposes. But this is the hard part..
Im on parental leave for six months now (Sweden is a generous country) so i cant work with it for a while. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I can 3D scan it with a stereoscopic measuring device.
I dont know how to operate it but i can learn.
Do you have access to a turbo part numbers data base? i'm looking for the specs of my current wheel and i dont know its part number, i only know the part number of the turbo.
btw, do you still use the email mentioned on your profile page? _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

ROW S1 on page 121, US S1 on pg 109, gts on 122...
Cédric -
You're looking for the compressor wheel dimensions for which specific turbo?
I think I have some compressor wheel blueprint drawings..
I bought an audi k26 in great shape for $100 to get a 2664 (5326-123-2035) CW and a spare turbine wheel/shaft both the same parts as the US 931 s1 turbo but all different housings... _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
