|

Ok so I returned from the swap meet this weekend with some great finds. In my mind they were great finds. Anyway, the rear hatch that I purchased has the 3rd brake light and rear wiper. I want to remove at least the wiper and plug the hole, but the 3rd light isn't mandatory in Ottawa. Can anyone point me to the How to for removing these items.
Thanks. _________________ Cheers;

I'd leave it. The brake lights on the 924/944 are lacking IMO, so any extra help in that department is a good thing
BTW, I'd also add the extra lights to the taillights:
http://only944.com/partscatalog/only/taillight/
Which can be added as extra brake lights instead of extra marker lights.
That said, I believe the brake light housing is glued in place so you'll need to gently warm the plastic and glue up to remove it. _________________ Stefan

Love their products. I have their shifter linkage, hatch bushings, shift inner boot and taillight parts. I'm happy so far since I didn't have to build it all myself. For example: the extra taillights can be made using a spare set of stock bulb holders, some wire and connectors, but its been so wet and miserable that I didn't feel like trying to find any in the yards and deal with corroded parts, etc. _________________ Stefan

So if I order that part from only944.com, does it allow me to only connect the third brake light? I could work with that, but am trying to maintain the early 924-esque mistique the car has. LOL
Still looking at the rear wiper. it seems to be a self contained bit. I am going to be installing the hatch this weekend. I can post pics if anyone is interested, but we all know what it looks like. LOL
Cheers and thanks gang. _________________ Cheers;

Nope the Only944 setup only adds an extra bulb to the stock taillights where there is an empty spot in the NA cars.
To connect the third taillight, you'd have to add wiring from the brake lights to the top of the hatch, etc. _________________ Stefan

Third brake light is recommended for safety. Easy to hook up if you get the pigtail from the donor car...just tap off the wire headed to the existing brake lights. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Hey Rasta;
That would be easy IF, I had the donor car. This was a spur of the moment purchase at the swap meet over the weekend, just have the hatch.
Looks like I may just remove it. Safety is over rated, isn't it?? LOL. _________________ Cheers;

Yeah, but its two bloody wires and a simple splice into the existing wiring.
Hardest part is removing a few screws to fish the wiring through the headliner and driver's side panel.
Ultimately, its up to you. _________________ Stefan

Safety is over rated until you get rear ended and your toofah is totaled. . .unlike Stefan, they don't like getting smacked in the ass. _________________ Toofah King Bad
