This has probably been covered but I am having trouble finding it. I had to replace the head gasket on my 87 924s. I set the engine at TDC before taking it down, I replaced the head gasket and got the head back on but cannot get the cam shaft housing to set back on the head. I thought with it set at TDC it would just set back into place. PLEASE HELP. _________________ Life is hard. It's even harder when you're stupid. |

| Did you release the tension on the timing belt to reassemble? |

You have to have the cam set at TDC as well, otherwise the valves will hit.
Drain the oil from the cam tower.
Make sure the surfaces are clean.
Install the gasket.
Put some assembly lube on the lifters to hold them in place.
Hold the cam tower upside down next the head and then "roll" it over onto the head.
Get the bolts started in the corners, tighten them a little at a time until the cam tower is down.
Install the rest of the bolts and torque to spec in order.
Use caution, the gasket tears easily. |
