I just picked up a parts 1979 924 Turbo. Been sitting 10+ years, motor is out and gone unfortunatly. Sunroof was off and gone so it has its own eco system growing inside. Some engine parts are left. I plan to keep the hood and nose panel of course, being a 944 guy. Would love a 931, but this is not the car to restore. Too far gone.
This is a 5 lug car with flat dish wheels, 4 wheel disc, sport seats (car is nasty inside did not investigate too much yet). And being a 79, I assume it has a g31 box. So this would make this car a 931S? I have not checked for LSD, but I assume it is. Unfortunately the option sticker is gone.
So my question is, what is worth saving off this car to help benefit the 924 world. I know the g31 boxes are desirable and valuble in good condition. I know the torque tube, shift rods/shifter are custom to the G31. Is the torsion carrier unique to the G31 as well? What should I keep off this car?
Interior is pretty much beyond saving. Sport seats are in VERY bad condition. Gauges physically look okay. Some engine parts are left in a box I need to go through. Exhaust is still on the car including the waste gate. What do you guys think? _________________ Will

Just because it has a G31 does not mean its an 'S'. As far as whats worth keeping:
-if the gearbox is an LSD its worth money, otherwise its not worth much unless someone local wants to take a chance on a box they cant test before buying
-the 5 lug set up is worth money if someone local needs it,otherwise shipping is usually too costly.
-yes,the torque tube is specific to the G31
-the guages and all electrics will be f'ed because of the car getting rained in
-if the box of goodies has a turbo in it and the turbo says 6.10 on the tag then its worth money (i would buy it)
Thats about it I think.....

-Gauges might still be good, check for corrosion.
If its a 79 it has the green gauges..some people are looking for those.
-Wheels should fetch something too.
-If the shell is not too rusted it might be good for someone building a racer _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I only say it may be a 931S, because it has all the options that I understand are particular to that model. And even if it is a 931S, I know that will not change this car/parts value or importance at this point.
I was under standing that the wheels are the same as the 928 "Sewer Lids", which don't fetch too much.
Is the 5 lug on these cars different than the Early 944? If so I would pull the 5 lug setup if someone had a need.
Not looking to get rich here or anything, would just like to see useful parts, go to use! _________________ Will
