i have a porsche 924s 1988 its my first car and when i know what the problem is i have been able to fix it from videos online and some trial and error i already fixed the starter, alternator, headlight motor, and windshield wiper motor. My problem is i don't know what part to fix or to replace. The car shakes from the two back tires not violently but bobbles back and forth as if it is loose. Mainly it happens when i am breaking from high speeds but it also happens sometimes when i drive around a parking lot at low speeds mainly under 10-15 mph any help in diagnosing? My neighbor who has worked on cars his whole life thinks it is the rotors and that they have been warped. I read a little on it adn it also says that the shaking can also result from the tie rods breaking down but i really have no clue any help?

Rotors don't really warp as much as they get pad material builtup unevenly, but I digress.

I would jack up the back of the car, put it on jack stands and make sure your emergency brake is released. Then slowly rotate one rear wheel at a time and listen and feel for anything dragging unevenly. Watch the CV joints for uneven movement and grab the axle and try to turn it by hand, there should t be any slop or movement in the joints.

My suspicion is you may be fighting one or more problems. Luckily you can probably resolve the issue by performing some maintenance on your brakes and the CV Joints.

Clarks-garage.com will have write ups on servicing the rear brakes and the CC joints. You can find YouTube videos on some of it as well.

A couple of notes:

I've found good deals on parts through RockAuto.com if you don't mind waiting. Just watch the shipping on multiple items.

you'll want the triple square tool to remove the CV joints. Amazon and other sites sell the tool.

When you remove the rotors, check the e-brake shoes for excessive wear. Once you reassemble the brakes, make sure the calipers can slide properly and the e-brake is adjusted properly.

Good luck!

Wheel bearings. Jack up the car, and grab the rear wheel at 12 and 6, 3 and 9, and pull back and forth. Any movement with a click, bearings are bad.
