|
|
I'm working on putting the rear suspension back in my 82 931 and it's come time to torque the bolt that attaches the trailing arm to the torsion tube. I checked the Haynes and it says 177 foot/pounds. That sounds really high and I don't trust it. I did a little interwebs searching and didn't find anything definitive on the 924 but found several listings for the 944 that spec'd 46 ft/lbs. Anyone know the correct spec? _________________ '81/'81/'82 |

I'm puzzling over some torque specs myself so I have the FSM open alrready. This page is from my 931 PDF FSM.

That is exactly what I needed! Looks like it is the trailing arm to torsion bar tube = 44 ft lbs
Cheers! Brian _________________ '81/'81/'82 |

Agreed; you were obviously being pointed at the M16 bolts that also form the height adjustment, with the eccentric.
Usually bolt size is a general guideline in itself to an appropriate torque, beyond that come the specifics of fitment and usage (with respect to our cars - grade doesn't vary much on the cars)... _________________ Vaughan Scott
