Just wondering if there is any one in here interested in vintage dirt bikes? My dad have always played with old bikes, and I got one for myself many years ago, a Maico 250 from 1978. The engine and gearbox went bust though and it laid in boxes until I got older (10 years in boxes!!) and had more money to do a proper rebuild. Shotblasted repainted fram, new shocks, rebuilt engine rebored+piston, new plastics and so on. Its really rewarding working on bikes since its so few parts and they are so easy to move around. And its way cheaper than playing with cars.

Its only some small stuff left now (except for painting the tank), here is a before and after picture I made today. Nice feeling to roll it into the sun and see the results.

I hope there are som other people here playing with bikes, would be fun if you could share some pics

Back in the early '70s, I had a Honda CT-70 or something; not quite a dirt bike. Underpowered with a 3-spd, no clutch. Saw one at the Firebird East track this last spring, brought back a few memories. A lot smaller than I remember~!

I still have a very old Kawasaki Enduro F7C. Needs a new throttle cable and finding one is like finding hen's teeth.

Down here in N.Z Vintage dirt bikes have really taken off. Been an terrain rich agricultural country most people here have at least ridden or been on a dirt bike.
Jap bikes are the thing here (hondas etc) resto, classic racing, trials and especially enduro are popular, seen quite a few modernized motard conversions which are cool.
I guess as moto-x has become flat peak-monster energy-hype & B.S driven drivel people are looking tinker and carry on from better times.
It's awesome.

VMX seems to be really big at many places around the world at the moment, especially the "twinshock" class. Which is nice since much more parts are reproduced now than 10 years ago. There is also much more events where san guys are driving for fun, rather than pure MX mad guys...

Yeah I like this style more..

than this..which is more what modern MX is..

Thank you! I will give them a call when some time permits. That would absolutely rock if they can hook me up.
