Well, the 924S project is moving right along, tight engine, no leaks, etc. But the muffler is shot, and for a Temporary Fix, I propose the following:
924 turbo Cat-back pipe, flange, and muffler.
Cut and clamp, or weld, the 924 turbo four bolt flange to 924S upper pipe.
Weld 924S muffler hanger to new muffler tail pipe.
The 924 turbo muffler is smaller, but the exhaust pipe is bigger. Will this work well enough till I can get the time to remove the 924S cat, and have someone weld in a pipe, and then say an aftermarket muffler setup? I'm running out of time before we head down to Arizona. Yo.
Or, should I just skip this step, and haul it down to my only exhaust shop in town and have him cut the cat, weld in the pipe, etc? _________________ '83 944 Track car.

I guess the 'do it' answer is what I'm looking for. However, concerned about whether the turbo muffler is big enough so the car doesn't sound like some ricer out there. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

The 2.5 won't sound like a ricer. Its too large and comparatively low revving.
If you're really worried, hit the parts store and pick up a cheap glass pack to place it in where the cat is/was and you'll change the resonating frequency a little. Just be aware that the packing will eventually fail. _________________ Stefan

| You might want to move that lift arm under the sub-frame before you crumple something. |

Uh, that's the factory reinforced lift point and the proper place to lift the cars in the rear.
Though you could put them on the torsion bar mounts, it makes servicing the torsion bars and rears suspension more difficult. _________________ Stefan

The air-cooled 911's have worse jacking points than the 924. Real easy to squish an oil cooler line on the passenger side. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Ok, back to the originally scheduled post, the exhaust is in, and it works perfectly. Sounds great, a tad like the turbo car sound, but deeper. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

That 931 muffler looks like the pre-1988 944 mufflers. Probably not much difference; if any. _________________ '84 944 -White, Brown interior
