|
|
Have been absent for a very long time due to health issues but am back……sorta!! It's been two years since I last started my 87' 924S, the battery has been charged during that time. I'm thinking I need to definitely drain the old gas and replace with fresh. My?? is this: Is there a "drain plug" on the underside of the tank? Any and all help will be most appreciated.
Thank you

if its not more than half a tank, just fill it up with fresh gas and drive.
i would do an oil change and timing belt change tho. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I would drain it and use it for your mower. There isn't a drain cock, but if you remove the feed house from the pump you can use it to direct the fuel into a can and get most of it out. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Thanks guys for the advice. Timing belt os OK, replaced it 3 yrs ago, definitely change the oil/filter prior to start-up. Am wondering if I should pull the plugs and spray a lube onto the top of the pistons/cyl. walls? Maybe Marvel Mystery Oil?? or ???? Rasta, I do not remember…..is the elec fuel pump on the exterior of the tank?
Thanks again all. _________________ 87' 924S, Red |

Make sure to have more than enough gas cans ready to fill. You'll need a pair of pinch pliers to pinch the line shut until you're ready to start draining the fuel & for when you want to stop flow. Needle nose pliers or needle nose vise grips with sections of rubber hose on them will work also, the rubber is to keep the pliers from cutting the hose.
The pump is right after the tank outlet. |

Pump is near passenger side wheel well.
Good idea about oiling the bores...you might try pulling the DME (so no fuel) and cranking it over to build oil pressure, while you have an assistant spray WD40 down the intake (throttle open). _________________ Toofah King Bad

Thanks for the reminder about the fuel pump location, been too long!! Also, I like the idea about spraying WD40 in the air intake as per your suggestion Rasta. All good info. Thanks to all
