So I had a thought from a different thread. Since I have a cherry picker it looks like doing a clutch replacement would be much easier and faster pulling the engine compared to dropping the tranny and doing it on my back. While I'm at it I need to replace my rear main seal and might as well examine all my hoses with the engine out. Thoughts? It just seems like the easier route... _________________ '78 924 N/A |

I'd pull and reseal the engine if you're committed to the car. Maybe rod bearings and a valve job as well. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I consider it easier to drop trans and pull the TT forward, but as Rasta mentioned if you are worried about seals in the engine, might be better to go that way and renew the engine while you have it out _________________ Over the top of skyline, total brake failure.... hit the wall at over 200 kp/h at the dipper, so anyone who has to brake for the esses is a pussy.

Good point re: pulling the engine; maybe more work than dropping the trans, but only modestly so, and you can do so many more good things to the engine too... head clean/valve job would be great, as well as cleaning (thoroughly) and resealing the oil pan would be a big benefit... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Thanks for the input, fellas. I forgot to mention I'd like to redo the gasket on the oil pan as well, so I suppose that probably helps make my decision. I just figure there's a lot of small things that need done/checked out and either way while I'm in there I ought to do them. _________________ '78 924 N/A |
