Couldn't resist. Nearly 100% original low mileage 77.5 Martini Edition. Aside from wear / tune-up replacement items, the only things I've identified as non-original are the exhaust, the antenna, and the aftermarket radio head unit.

Original paint. Car was vandalized at one point, so it has a broken windshield and some dings in the hood. It has no cancer yet, but it is going to have to be repainted in order to address some surface rust that is starting to pop up in the usual places. Seat inserts are badly faded, but amazingly completely intact with no wear or rips. Seat piping and Martini stripes are almost like new. Carpet is original and in good shape, minimal fading and discoloration. Has dealer A/C option and rear wiper option. Hatch is in great shape.

Not a concours candidate due to lack of documentation, so I am contemplating a restoration to a Euro-look (US side market delete, Euro side marker add, and replace bumpers with the Euro bumpers I have in the parts stash).

Has a cold start problem, but the car runs pretty good once warmed up, and no immediate issues identified with clutch, trans, or braking system. Slight backfire on decel, which may be attributable to lack of back-pressure due to the custom stainless exhaust system.

In case you're interested, have nice red seats, front and rear. Haven't heard from Timmay recently, and don't want to 'sit' on these forever~! Already boxed and ready to go.

Nice find, I'm jealous. Please note if going for the euro look, these cars had NO side markers, came in a couple of years later.

Would love to know if you have the original paint code sticker and what it says, usually on the door hinge pillar.

Very good to know, that will make the job even easier then!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I've done a quick once over, but haven't found the paint code yet. I will absolutely be sure to post it if I can find it.

First post on this page is the paint sticker on my all original Martini. My family has owned this car since it was on the showroom floor so I know it was the sticker put there by the factory.

The difficulty I am having is that the paint code you have, and I have seen others the same, doesn't look anything like a white when mixed by using the code L93Z, more like a muddy cream. This issue has been discussed elsewhere http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=36290&highlight=martini .

My own car has had paint and doesn't have a sticker, so doesn't serve as a good guide. It would be really good to have an original car with original paint matched to confirm the colour/mix used when new.

It's not an issue with me, as mine, although having had paint refreshed at some time, doesn't warrant repainting so will remain "as is", but anyone undertaking a full restoration might want this one laid to rest!

At the end of last year I bought a M&R 924 with 70,000 miles. I bought it from the son of the original owner. It's in very nice condition - although not, as I discovered, without a few faults.

In Australia we have the Euro spec cars. There are no side reflectors. I would post some confirming pictures but I can't figure out how - it's on my list.

My car seems to have been at least partially repainted and the paint code sticker is no longer there. However I did get some touch up paint from a paint shop and Police White L93Z was the correct colour, with a little tweaking to allow for age. When the paint shop guy first mixed it he thought it looked too beige but when it was set against the car it was right - subject to a little adjustment.

Also, on a website called Roads Scholars there's a "Manhattan Trophy winner" 7,195 mile 924 M&R. A photo of the door jamb shows the paint code sticker which is L93Z Police White.

My car also had a cold start problem. Replacing the thermo time sender and the cold start injector (both were faulty) has fixed the problem.

Like you, my car was bought from the son of the original owner, however it was repainted and presented to the son on his 17th birthday in the '80's, so the paint is questionable, otherwise good original condition.

However the son went on to bigger and better Porsche, including full race, and the Martini ended up in his small private collection since about 1989. Due to it's long term lack of use, it's been a nightmare to recomission, never wanting to perform as it should!

I was luckier than that. The son in my case did not get the car until later in life - his forties or possibly fifties - so it continued to be well kept. It was also driven at least occasionally and serviced.

The problems with my car are relatively minor. As well as the cold starting problem and a broken check strap in the driver's door - fixed - I had to replace the heater valve and radiator header tank. I did them both myself, even with my limited skills. The main problem is that the header tanks are no longer available new - I manged to get one 2nd hand.

Remaining issues are some leaking down from the injectors, a worn auxiliary air valve and tired front shocks. All will be fixed later this year. Overall I'm very happy. Any fool with a $100k to spend can buy a desirable classic - doing it with less than $10k requires much more creativity and patience - and it's much more fun

Good to know, next question will be "what does it look like when mixed to spec", the sample I got back was horrible!
