Lets set some parameters..
I do not care if my steering gets heavier at low speed..
A stiffer ride and road noise are negligible, I don't care..
I love my gullydeckel wheels, I will only replace them for performance reasons if need be..
I do not need "ultimate", rather "very good" will do, "good enough" not so much.
My current tires are shite, my rear end keeps stepping out too soon IMO on power and I get 4 wheel squeal at neutral accel around corners too easily..
This is not for ricer purposes, this is for going faster in all 4 directions purposes..
This is for a car with big boost, big breaks, and big suspension (to come in time) that will be driven VERY hard (that's what it's for) on street and hopefully see the track eventually..
Staying narrow body for sure, I may be open to hand rolling the fenders just slightly, nothing extreme..
May eventually be lowered slightly for performance purposes..
Some votes and posts like..
"you can fit X size tires on 6" wheels F/R"
"you can fit X size tires on X size wheels F/R"
"you can fit X size tires on X size wheels with front 2.5" coilovers"
"If I was you I'd run X size wheels and X size tires on the front and X size wheels and X size tires on the rear with X supporting mods (if needed)"
"rambling about pro's/con's, maybe some debate"
Would be much appreciated..
I don't necessarily want "as big as it'll fit" but rather "a bit bigger than I'll need" would be perfect..
Late offset are the ones that fit correct?
Will early offset rears fit without the wheel spacers?
Thanks for the help, no way I could do what I do without you guys.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

Big is not always best, i had 245 wide tires on the rears that kept loosing traction in different conditions. Now i have 225 tires on all wheels and grip is much improved. If you plan on driving fast, look for top 3 rated performance premium tires. Don't go mad on sizes as for street use tires like 205 or 225 are enough for these cars.
My red GTS wannabe has 225/45/17 Conti Sport 5 tires on 9" rims, absolute best tires i ever had on a car. They literally have no flaw.
My 931 has 205/55/15 old tires on 6" spiderwebs and thats what i will keep. I will buy exactly the same size but of course Conti Sport 5. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I would go for 285 for front
and 285 for rear.
Or 295 front
and 315 rear.

Lol I bought new Sailun Atrezzo ZSR cheap tires for my white car for total cost of 260 euros (including mounting) and for a street car these are absolutely wonderful value. Silent, no hunting on the pavement, has suprisingly good traction (just look at the vid where I launch against AWD Impreza lol). 255/35 R18 at the rear, 215/30 R18 in front.
I doubt they will withstand prolonged track session without overheating and becoming jelly but so far a VERY good inverstment.
Lol, found even a review of these tires, seem to perform quite well and these are widely used in our local drifting circles: http://www.rezulteo-tyres.co.uk/r-new-tyres-advice/the-sailun-atrezzo-zsr-tyre-tested-by-rezulteo-26791 _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Width is worth f**k all if they are of poor quality brand or rubber. I'm running 195's on 7'' and they'll out corner most moderns on track with fat tyres. Wider tyres also equal heavier unsprung weight which also isn't good. 205 is the max you want on 6'' rims. Beyond this and they'll roll back and forth on the rim and ruin grip anyhow _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

I don't really know what you mean by "top 3 rated performance premium tires" but I was thinking BFGoodrich G-Force comp-2 tires..
Are those pretty good or are you talking something better?
I'll look into those Conti Sport-5 you mention..
If the consensus is that 205's are plenty I'll go with that so I can keep my nice wheels and be happy, I just don't want to make a decision now based on "easy" and regret it later.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
