I searched the internet for hours and could never find the exact easy answer to where the low pressure service port is on my 1979 N/A. In case I'm not the only one wondering, the Low Pressure port is located on the line that enters the compressor on the drivers side. Mine has the Nippondenso compressor, and looks to be one of the factory type units. The port near the dryer (beside the driver side headlight) is a high pressure test port, so don't try to add your freon there. R12 is actually pretty easy to come by around here, $20.00 per can on Craigslist, so I didn't bother to do a 134A conversion. The port on mine is pretty accessible from above and the Schraeder valve seems to hold pressure just fine. I had to jump the pressure switch, which is located on the dryer near the aforementioned high pressure port, to get the compressor to start. Added one 12 ounce can of R12 to the system, and now the A/C blows pretty dang cold. I can still see some bubbles in the sight glass, but the air is cold enough that I may just run with what I have for the present time. I will get photos of the associated parts and post them when I get home tonight, that way if anyone else has this question they can see what I'm talking about. _________________ Its only money, you can always get more.

I did some work to my turbo with the factory Nippondenso system as well but unfortunately there is a significant leak in one of the hoses... anyone know a place that can replace the old leaky hose?
Also, why are rebuilt compressors so expensive?! Are there any kits out there that I can purchase so I don't have to spend an outrageous amount to have some nice A/C?
One last question: The A/C fan never wanted to turn on when I got the car, found a ground at the fan/fan relay bracket was dirty. The A/C fan works miles ahead of the regular fan! Is the regular fan supposed to be so slow??? _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - sold

There are several write-ups on Pelican on general compressor rebuilding. And, yes the heat fan is incredibly slow. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Can't your mechanic replace an old leaky hose? _________________ MOD
