Hi all,

My 924 NA seems to run very cool all the time.

During normal driving (admittedly usually higher speed as I leave rurally) she gets to the top of the "cold" area on the temp gauge.

Pootling around the town, only to the first line on the guage (is that 1/4 way?).

All with ambient temps up to 30 degC (86 degF).

Am I just lucky? Or is this not usual?

Is my gauge perhaps reading incorrectly (though when I stop the car she never seems "hot")?

Also, the thermofan switch will often stay on for up to 10 minutes after the car has stopped. I fear it may be faulty and switching at a very low temperature.

Any advice appreciated.

More or less what mine does, due to cold thermostat and fan switch (they come in different temps).

Plus, as you noted, the gauges can be less than 100% accurate, usually due to grounding problems. If you're concerned, get a laser pyrometer and check the water flanges and cylinder head.

Thanks Rasta, makes me feel better. I'll ensure the thermostat and thermofan switch are similar in temp some time on the future. I will have the dash out soon and there's quite possibly a ground issue, so will let you know how that goes.

Ground between engine and body can also impact oil pressure and water temp gauges...
