I'm exploring the idea of using NA piston rings on a 931 Piston as the 931 ring are expensive, hard to get, and tend to break. The NA rings are top to bottom widths of 2mm, 2.5mm and 5mm. If anyone has a 931 pistons with rings handy could you measure the rings and post it for me. I will be exploring the idea of regrooving the pistons. NA piston rings from Goetze are available for under $100 per set.

I know Ideola can get Total Seal rings for about $250 but I have no idea if they are their coil steel rings or regular nodular cast iron. Just exploring the options here.

Thanks in advance for the help.

After several calls, I have not found anyone or any leads to someone who will turn the pistons to a larger ring size apparently it is fairly difficult and takes very good equipment to chuck the pistons in a lathe and the turn pistons without the tool grabbing and pitching the piston across the shop. I'm sure it can be done somewhere, but for me it is not worth pursuing.

I was looking for the higher compression ratio using a NA head. My '77 has two dead cylinders, 4 hrs of HPDE driving on an old motor that was in poor shape before did it in. I have a '80 that I bought to build into a track car, but the motor is locked up in it. I didn't even bother check before purchase as the cost was $350, and I have a motor(in pieces) for it. Looks like I'll have to rebuild the '80 as at least it has 9.0CR vs the 8.0 of the '77.
